Forgiveness vs Justice
I know as a Christian it is is important to practice forgiveness, because that is something Jesus preached often. But when a crime takes place my first reaction is wanting justice. When the Colorado shooting took place a few days ago I wanted the shooter to pay. I still feel that way. I don’t want him to just get life in prison, I want him to get the death penalty. Sometimes I have doubts about whether I am being Christ-like in my feelings/reactions, but at the same time I know that this is who I am. I want him to pay for what he has done. Pay for the lives he took and the people he hurt, both physically and emotionally.
